Both John Kent and Veronica Pelot have long histories of owning dogs, since they were no taller than their four-legged family members. John’s earliest memories are of the gentle cocker spaniel, Spookie, his family had when he was a child while Veronica’s fur-family has included an assortment of breeds throughout her life, including rough collies, a husky, and a cairn terrier.

John is a former financial insider who has twenty years of experience with operating businesses. His specialty is in animal welfare. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto.

Veronica has a degree in biology from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay and works as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.   Her passion for dogs is unmistakable whenever she meets a new guest.

Rebecca Dickson – Kennel Manager

Rebecca’s life with dogs started at 3 and 1/2 when she showed her first boxer in a PeeWee competition. Growing up, her summers were spent helping her mother, who is a Professional Handler, showing dogs all over the United States and Canada. Her love for animals, dogs especially, lead her to get a college degree in Veterinary Assistance and attend her Internship in Thailand.

More recently, the couple embarked on a new venture in preservation breeding German Short Haired Pointers with champions Juno, Hera, and Aero. You can find out more about this journey at Sevenstars GSPS.

John and Veronica have two young sons, Remy and Benjamin, who both love to help in the kennel.

Bright, large inside/ outside accommodation for each dog; play time with other dogs, multiple daily walks. Henry came home tired and contented after his first visit. Friendly, accommodating staff. I was concerned about how Henry would take to boarding- but he will definitely be going back for more sleepovers!

This was the first time I had ever kenneled my dog. I was nervous as you can imagine but my baby girl had the best time. She made some new friends and I was told she behaved very well. She was all smiles when I picked her up. I will be most definitely boarding both my fuzzy kids there anytime I will be leaving town and feel confident knowing they are safe

Look no further than the barkway for your furry children to stay. John and his staff took really good care of our dog. Though it was only one night it was the first time she stayed in a kennel overnight.
Top notch facilities and great staff.
